How many tropical community fish can I safely have in my 45 Gallon tank?

more fish you add the worse the water quality becomes.amonia and such.i think tiger barbs need a group of the same.same with ruby barbs.they like each others company.should have atleast 3 of the same.other fish can live alone.just read my book on tiger barbs,if not kept in a group they might become fin nippers
