If I painted a brick fireplace with liquid latex, would I be able to peel it off later?

I am renting my house, and the brick fireplace is so ugly. I would love to paint it white, but it's not my house. I'm wondering, if I used liquid latex, would it just peel off when I'm ready to move out, and would it stay in place until I'm ready to peel it off? Is that an idea too crazy to work?
