Information on Global Warming

Since America is in the northern hemisphere, and as I understand that the wind currents travel from the equator to the North Pole and back, while the opposite being true for the southern hemisphere. The hole in the ozone is supposed to be above the South Pole why are we in America blamed for it? If we caused it shouldn’t it be above the North Pole?
