Please tell me the name of this film...?

I am trying to find out the name of a film where i think a little boy and a girl are taken by aliens..Is the end of the world and the father of the boy and the little girls mother try to find them after they are taken from a petrol station.The mother then dies in a crash..At the end the boy and girl go in the spaceship to start a new world.
