Why girls are afraid to tell any guy if she doesn't like him?

Especially if the two are very good friends. In my opinion, I want a girl to be honest and straightforward with me if she doesn't like me as more than friends. A quick and fast heartbreak is better than wondering around for days, weeks, and months with no answers.
