Question about a war that the French lost and then another war that was fought just south of there?

Hard to say, since the French have lost every war they were ever in, to my way of thinking. My vote, however, goes to the IndoChina war, where the French had their blanks kicked in a place named, roughly, Dien Bien Poo, and so lost French Indo China.
